Chinati Hot Springs
A long and storied history
Chinati Hot Springs has been a refreshing oasis to travelers for years. Visitors from both sides of the border have enjoyed the warm mineral springs since before there was a border! Over the years, the springs have traded hands. The property was owned by minimalist sculptor Donald Judd and later bought and operated as a non-profit entity. The current owner, a Texan, has invested the necessary resources to turn the springs into an international destination. Returning guests who visited the springs even ten years ago will notice a remarkable difference.

Villa Vieja
West Texas Ranch Retreat is in the very center of town which until the early to mid-1900s, was part of a thriving farming community mostly owned by the Nuñez family.
Adobe structures were the primary method of the building because of the plethora of adobe dirt in the area.
The three buildings have been used in the past as a trading post for the likes of Pancho Villa, a general store, a saloon, cafe, gas station, lodging, and a chapel.
Saved from ruin and thoughtfully restored two decades ago by long-time residents Jim & Olivia Blumberg, where it sat mostly empty... until now.
Realizing that the history of the property, the character, and integrity of the buildings, Texas Artist Michael Shaddox purchased the buildings to update, and provide access to the property for travelers and locals, with a visitors center coming soon, lodging, destination weddings, and various monthly retreats, as well as remote business meetings.
The history, unspoiled territory, abundance of wildlife, and unparalleled 360-degree views of the Chinati Mountains and the beautiful Mountain views across the Rio Grande River make Ruidosa one of Texas’s best kept secrets in the Big Bend area.
